When Teddy came to my studio for his newborn session at 6 days old, I was thrilled to meet him. He decided that he didn’t want to miss a moment of his shoot, so did his best to stay awake for as much of his session as possible! Although he was unsettled, I managed to get a decent gallery of images, but asked Amy if she could bring him back in a few week’s time so I could photograph him to use in competition at the Guild of Photographers. I never got the chance. The night before Teddy was due to return to me, he was rushed to hospital where he was blue-lighted to paediatric intensive care in Nottingham. I stayed in constant contact with Amy, and she told me that while he was very very poorly with sepsis due to late-onset Strep B, and although it had been touch and go, he would recover. Sadly things took a downwards turn, and Teddy’s brain received such severe injuries that Amy and Jack were told he would never survive without the help of machines. Teddy passed away peacefully in his parents’ arms. When a baby dies, the ripple effect is huge. No parent should ever have to bury their child. I have cried many tears for Teddy and his family, and I know many other people have too. I can’t bring Teddy back, but I can raise money in his memory to raise money for the charity Group B Strep Support, who tirelessly work to raise awareness of GBS and who support bereaved families. Therefore over 2 weekends in October, I will be holding a series of mini photo shoots to raise money for GBSS. Sessions will be 20 minutes long and suitable from sitting babies to older children. Each session will be £65 and you will receive 2 beautifully edited high-resolution images to download. 100% of profit made will go to Group B Strep Support (charity number 1112065) https://gbss.org.uk/
